1. Information we collect#

Account information

When you create an account, with Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google or with email, we collect your name (if you share it), your email address and an account ID. If you sign in with Google, we may also receive the profile picture on your Google account. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive a private relay address from Apple instead of your real one.

Study materials you add

QuizWhiz works on the materials you choose to give it. Depending on what you use, this includes:

• Lecture recordings. Audio from your microphone, captured only while you are recording.
• Files and scans. PDFs, slides, documents, and photos or camera scans of pages.
• Text you paste, such as notes or a syllabus.
• Links. YouTube or web links you share. We fetch the content of that link (for example a video transcript or the text of a page) to study from it.
• Titles, course names, bookmarks and other details you add to organize your studying.

Content we create for you

From your materials, the Service creates transcripts, notes, study guides, memory tricks, quizzes, mock exams, flashcards and podcast-style audio recaps. We store these in your account so you can come back to them.

Study activity

To track your progress and schedule reviews, we keep your quiz answers and scores, flashcard ratings, review schedule, readiness estimates, streaks, XP, badges, exam dates you enter and your study reminder settings.

Purchases

You can buy Pro in two places, and in neither case do we receive your full card details:

• In the App, through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment.
• In the Web App, through our payment partners RevenueCat and Stripe. They collect your payment details, email address and billing country or postal code (for tax) to process the payment and send your receipt.

We receive information about your purchase, such as which plan you bought, where you bought it, transaction IDs, renewal status and expiry date, so we can unlock Pro features and keep track of your 3 free study sets.

Technical information

Like most online services, our servers receive basic technical information when the App or Web App connects to them, such as your IP address, device model or browser, operating system and app version, and the time of the request. We use this to run the Service, keep it secure and fix problems. When something goes wrong, an error-monitoring provider receives a crash or error report (such as the error, the screen it happened on, your device or browser and app version) so we can fix it. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may also share crash reports and diagnostics with us.

2. Device permissions#

The App only asks for access when you use a feature that needs it:

• Microphone to record lectures.
• Camera to scan pages.
• Photos to import images of notes or slides.
• Notifications for study reminders and when your notes are ready.

Each permission is optional. You can change it at any time in your device's Settings. Turning one off only disables the feature that needs it.

In the Web App, your browser asks for your permission before QuizWhiz can use your microphone, and you can change that at any time in your browser's site settings.

3. How we use your information#

We use your information to:

• Turn your materials into notes, study guides, quizzes, flashcards and podcasts
• Store and sync your study sets across your devices
• Manage your account, free study sets and Pro subscription
• Schedule reviews and send study reminders you have turned on
• Answer your questions and support requests
• Keep the Service secure and prevent fraud and abuse
• Fix bugs and improve how the Service works
• Meet our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use your study materials or the content created from them to train AI models.

4. How AI is used#

QuizWhiz uses third-party AI services to transcribe audio and to generate study content. When you create a study set, the materials needed for that task (such as audio, text, images or the content of a link) are sent to an AI provider, which processes them to return the transcript, notes, questions or audio we show you.

These providers act on our behalf, may only use the data to provide their service to us, and are not permitted to use it to train their models.

AI-generated content can contain mistakes. Always check important facts against your course materials. See our Terms of Use for more.

5. How we share information#

We share information only in these cases:

• Service providers who help us run QuizWhiz, under contracts that limit how they use your data: AI providers (transcription and content generation), cloud hosting and database providers (storing and syncing your account and study sets), a subscription management provider (checking your purchase status), payment processors for Web App purchases (RevenueCat and Stripe), and an error-monitoring provider (crash and error reports).
• Apple, which processes App Store purchases, Sign in with Apple and push notifications under its own privacy policy.
• Google, if you choose Sign in with Google, under its own privacy policy.
• Legal reasons, when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or QuizWhiz.
• Business changes, such as a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this Privacy Policy will continue to apply to your information.
• With your permission, when you ask us to share something.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law.

6. How long we keep information#

We keep your account information, study materials, study sets and study activity for as long as you have an account. You can delete individual study sets in the App or Web App at any time.

When you delete your account in Settings → Delete Account, or ask us to by email, we delete your account and its content from our active systems within 30 days. Copies in backups are removed within a further 90 days. We may keep a limited record, such as purchase history, where the law requires it. Technical logs are kept for a short time for security and troubleshooting.

7. Your choices and rights#

Wherever you live, you can:

• See and edit your account details and study sets in the App or Web App
• Delete study sets, or your whole account, in the App or Web App
• Ask us for a copy of your personal information
• Turn off device permissions and notifications in your device's Settings, or microphone access in your browser

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a portable copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email support@quizwhizai.com from the email address on your account. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within the time the law requires. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

European Economic Area and United Kingdom

We process your information to provide the Service you asked for (performance of a contract), for our legitimate interests in keeping the Service secure and improving it, to meet legal obligations, and with your consent where required, such as for device permissions and notifications. You have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

California

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and to request deletion and correction of it. We collect the categories described in the “Information we collect” section, for the purposes described in this policy. We do not sell or share personal information.

8. International transfers#

Our service providers may process information in the United States and in other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where the law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Security#

We protect your information with industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls that limit who can reach your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you think your account has been compromised, contact us right away.

10. Children's privacy#

QuizWhiz is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use QuizWhiz with a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us at support@quizwhizai.com and we will delete it.

11. This website and the web app#

quizwhizai.com does not use cookies, analytics, tracking pixels or advertising, and its fonts are served from our own server. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) for security and to keep the site running. Links to the App Store take you to Apple, whose privacy policy applies there.

The Web App at app.quizwhizai.com uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember your settings. This is needed for the Web App to work, and it is not used for advertising or to track you on other sites. Signing out removes your session, and you can clear this data at any time in your browser's settings. The checkout pages of our payment partners may set their own cookies to process payments and prevent fraud.

12. Changes to this policy#

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes. We will post the new version here and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will also let you know in the App, the Web App or by email before it takes effect.
